March 2023 Home-Made Goodies Auction

We all have treats, goodies and special somethings that we make for ourselves, for our friends, or for gifts. Maybe it's home-baked bread, or maybe it's a special cake, or even half a dozen cupcakes. Or maybe it's not something baked, maybe it's a jar of soup, or jelly, or chutney, or salsa.  Maybe it's not even edible, but a lovely skin cream, or home-made soap, or a bath bomb, or a sugar or salt scrub. Or maybe it is something else entirely but equally lovely.

Whatever you put together at home,

Hello, all,

I hope this years gardens have been successful for all of you. It has been very dry in my part of the county this dry season, and since I don't have irrigation only the xeriscape plants and the small areas that I water regularly (mostly the herbs and veggies) in my yard are looking well. But most stuff is surviving.

The Mounts has been  hosting its usual spring whirlwind of activities this month: guest lecturers, another art exhibit, youth programs, and more. Classes have been available on

February 2023

Greetings, all,

This month we will have our usual mid-winter celebration of chili. Beef, sausage, chicken, vegan, vegetarian, beans, or no beans. Whatever your favorite recipe is, bring in a batch and let us try it! There will be one award for the best meat recipe and another for the best meat-free recipe.

Next month we will all bring in a contribution to our Home-made Goodies Auction, and we will bring some cash or a check to pay for whatever we bid on. Home-made Goodies may be something edible or it may be something growing (or grew), or it may be something sweet-scented, or something lovely for the skin. Whatever your favorite thing is that you make at home, bring it. Please make certain that any liquids or powders are tightly sealed to prevent spills.

In April we are planning to take part in the Mounts Spring Plant-a-Palooza, to raise funds for our groups continued well being. Please think about volunteering on Saturday or Sunday of the last weekend in April.

See you there!

Mary

Hello, EHS members!

January 2023

Hello, everybody!

Hope you have all recovered from your various and sundry December activities, whether it was traveling or hosting family or just going to local parties.

We had a lovely time at our holiday dinner in December. Everyone brought something tasty and everyone ate lots of yummy stuff. Special thanks to Ingrid and Marci for obtaining and slicing up the ham and the turkey. Also special thanks to Bernard, Roland, Lynn, Donnie, Ingrid, Marci and KC (apologies if I am leaving anyone out) for helping to set up, and to everyone who was there for helping to clean up. After dinner we played Bingo, with prize packages
